Mission Statement

Last updated 6 months ago

Our mission is guided by 3 primary tenants:

Transparency: Developer transparency isn't an issue when everything is public record on the blockchain, with transparency ensured by public governance and ownership via a DAO, or Decentralized Autonomous Organization... this includes treasury transparency.

Game Design: If a game isn't fun, there is little hope for it's long term success. Our name embodies the goal of creating decent games, and we have decades of experience in game design and development, and spend months planning our games to ensure our games are fun and enjoyable.

Ownership: We strongly believe in not only giving players actual ownership of their in-game items and the freedom to do with those items as they please, but also in making sure they have an opportunity to own a part of the company that developers the games they love.

Let's break down our 3 tenets in greater detail, individually:

Transparency

Decent Games expects to be a shining beacon for transparency not just within the gaming space, but also the crypto space. Everything the company does will be held via public votes using Decent Games Share Tokens (DGST) and all sales from every game we develop will be paid to and stored within the DAO contract.

These funds can be spent by shareholders, usually to fund the development of projects by sending funds to an agreed upon Organization Wallet, which is up to shareholders to decide. In fact, this is the mechanism that'll drive our initial build out of !

Game Design

Making a great game takes a lot of research, planning, and discussion from many different skill sets. We meticulously plan every aspect of our game to ensure it meets some very basic, but often overlooked criteria:

  • Fun - If a game isn't fun, nothing else matters!

  • Rewarding - Gameplay should be rewarding to encourage further gameplay and engagement, by ensuring gameplay systems are rewarding with tight gameplay loops, we'll keep players coming back!

  • Balance - An often overlooked aspect of game design, Balance is a fine line between rewarding gameplay and boring gameplay. We spend countless hours planning for balanced gameplay!

Ownership

The biggest benefit of integrating blockchain technology into modern gaming is the nature of true ownership within games. We feel that in a world of $50 cosmetic items, it's unfair that a developer can ban your account, usually for any reason (or no reason!) of their choosing and remove access to a collection of items you most likely invested a lot of money and/or time into.

We stand to challenge this - when you own an asset in our games, it's yours to do with as you see fit - you can give it way, sell it, or destroy it! We don't want to control what you do with your assets!
